How Bitcoin lot size is calculated

With most MT5 brokers, 1 lot of BTCUSD = 1 bitcoin: every $1 the price moves is $1 with 1 lot. The stop is measured in dollars of price.

Lot = risk $ ÷ (stop distance $ × contract)

Example: $10,000 account, 1% risk ($100), $500 stop (entry 65,000, stop 64,500):

100 ÷ (500 × 1) = 0.200 lots

At $65,000 that position moves $13,000 of bitcoin, but if the stop is hit you only lose $100.

FAQ

How much is 1 lot of Bitcoin?

With most CFD brokers, 1 lot of BTCUSD = 1 BTC. Some use 0.1 or 0.01 BTC per lot: check the contract size in MT5 and change it in the calculator.

What's the minimum lot on BTCUSD?

Many brokers allow 0.01 and some 0.001. That's why this calculator rounds to three decimals; if your broker only accepts 0.01, round down.

What is the price for?

It's optional: it doesn't change the lot, but it shows your position size in dollars (lot × contract × price).

Does it work for Ethereum?

Yes: pick ETHUSD in the Crypto tab. It works the same, with 1 ETH per lot by default.
